Easy Ways To Beat The Post Holiday Blues

When your summer holiday is over and done with for another year and it’s back to the 9-5 grind what can you do to beat those post-holiday blues? Our Bournemouth chiropractor has some practical ideas.
1: Tidy Up
Take a good look around your home. Are there fewer empty spaces than there should be? Are the walls closing in on you? A cluttered or messy house can make you feel overwhelmed and stuck in your thinking. It’s also a lot harder to clean a messy house! Pick out a few items each day and ask yourself if you really need them. Would you really miss them if they were gone and could they be useful to someone else? Most people feel and perform better in an uncluttered environment, so get rid of what you don’t need.
2: Give
Nothing has the power of boosting your spirits quite like doing a good deed. If you can afford to, why not donate a monetary gift to your favourite charity or how about donating some unwanted clothes or belongings to someone in need? This way, you get de-cluttered and someone else gets something they need. It’s a win/win!
3: Perform a Random Act of Kindness
Make a commitment to perform a random act of kindness every day. It could be something as simple as smiling at a stranger or giving up your seat on a bus. Think about the little things you can do that can make someone’s day. Open a door for someone else. Thank someone for the work they do. Let another driver into the line of traffic. Run an errand for someone who is busy or sick. Small kindnesses take little time or effort but can make a big difference to someone else. And you never know, maybe you’ll even inspire others to follow suit!
4: Make Healthy Lifestyle Changes
It’s really hard to feel good eating bad food! Remember that the choices you make for your body not only have an impact on how you feel physically, but emotionally too! If you’ve got a bad case of the post-holiday blues, perhaps you can turn things around by dumping those bad holiday eating habits and opting for fruits, veggies and other healthy foods instead. Get moving too! Regular exercise can work wonders for the mind, body and soul!
Take these tips on board and you holiday blues will fly away quicker than the plane you’ve just travelled on!
